Get to know Paige V. Hicks

Paige was a member of Disco who was struck by a semi and killed while leading a Bike & Build trip across the country. She was the embodiment of everything it means to be a part of this team. To lose her is to lose a smile that could brighten any room, a person whose love of life and of those around her made the world a better place.

In her memory, friends and fellow team members started an endowmenet fund, the goal of which was reached in 2015. The PVH Fund ensures that money isn't an issue for those who want to play frisbee by covering travel, tournament fees, and other frisbee-related costs for those who can't afford it.

The quirky, exuberant, and determined spirit of the Brown's ultimate team has much in comon with Paige's spirit. Her energy was directed not only toward the team, however, but also to public service and improving her community.

Understanding the Recent Name Changes

In 2016, the members of PFools voted to change their name to CoRays in order to foster a more inclusive environment that respects all backgrounds.

In 2020, the members of Disco voted to change their name to Shiver. The team began a series of talks when it was pointed out that the disco logo at the time--the outline of a woman with an afro--was not how the team felt comfortable representing themselves. The team removed the logo, and began discussing the origins of the term 'disco' and its roots in the African American community. They chose to stick the the ocean theme from CoRays and the BMo hellfish and chose a Shiver of sharks. This was the decision of the 2020 team.
